Eliza is in a full-blown panic. Her notebook has been stolen—the one that lists everything she wants but is afraid to go after. And the absolute worst person in the world has it: her ex-boyfriend, Cooper.
Like it’s not enough Cooper was lying to Eliza for their entire relationship, now he and his friends are blackmailing her. They’re giving her just one night to complete the most humiliating tasks on her list or they’ll post her secrets online—including the ones that aren’t just about her.
Eliza’s sure of only one thing: she isn’t going down without a fight. Cooper may have what’s left of her dignity, but she’s not the only one with something to hide … (From Goodreads)

This was my very first Lauren Barnholdt book and it was a good one! I have just recently started reading chick lit and this one gave me a reason to want to read this genre even more. One Night That Changes Everything was funny, fast-paced and sweet. I enjoyed Eliza's adventure through the city of Boston from the very beginning that I found myself unable to put it down and read it all in one sitting.

We get into the mind of Eliza as she's frantically searching for her notebook that's full of her deepest secrets and things that she's always been afraid of doing. She soon finds out the the notebook is in the possession of her ex-boyfriend's secret high school fraternity and that she has to do whatever task they demand of her in order to get it back. While she's trying to do all these silly things that these mean boys want her to do she gets a little help from her ex-boyfriend and starts feeling a little confused about her feelings towards him.

I didn't like Cooper in the beginning when I found out what he did to Eliza and the reason they broke up, he kind of grew on me a little bit towards the end but I still felt undecided about him. I think mainly because I wished he would've stood up to his friends for Eliza instead of just trying to help her behind their backs.
My favorite parts where with Eliza and her two best friends, they were crazy and did the funniest things and I thought they completed the book perfectly. They were hysterical, so different and naive but still very supportive and able to stand up for each other. I was able to relate to Eliza, she reminded me very much of myself, how she got paranoid and start freaking out every time she was about to do one of the tasks or when she kept rambling on in her mind. The tasks weren't even that horrible or life altering but I understand how they would have been for someone like Eliza who seemed very shy and reserved. I will definitely be picking up more books by Lauren Barnholdt since I enjoyed this one a lot and definitely recommend it.

  1. I should be reading this one soon. I'm glad you liked it! I'm really interested to see how Cooper plays out given the circumstances. A lot of people have grown to like him, but I think I'll probably end up undecided about him like you.
